Houston-based energy co. hires Southwestern Energy VP as CFO

Adams Resources & Energy Inc. (NYSE: AE) named Josh Anders as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer effective Dec. 15, according to a release.

Interim CFO and Treasurer Sharon Davis plans to resign from that position and continue as executive vice president, COO and chief accounting officer. Richard Abshire, former CFO, treasurer and executive vice president, retired Aug. 31. Abshire worked with the company for 31 years.

Anders' energy experience stretches back more than a decade. He served as vice president, controller and principal accounting officer for Houston-based Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE: SWN) from 2012 to 2016. He also worked as vice president, business development and treasurer of Houston-based Beryl Oil and Gas LP, which Houston-based Dynamic Offshore Resources acquired in 2009. Anders also has held various roles with Houston-based Pogo Producing Co., which Houston's Plains Exploration & Production Co. acquired in 2007.

Adams Resources is the 58th-largest Houston-area public company, according to Houston Business Journal Research. The company reported $1.94 billion in 2015 revenue and 809 employees. It was founded by K.S. "Bud" Adams Jr., the late owner of the former Houston Oilers and then the Tennessee Titans, in 1947 and went public in 1974.

Through its subsidiaries, Adams Resources & Energy works in marketing crude oil, tank truck transportation of liquid chemicals, and oil and gas exploration and production. Its subsidiaries are GulfMark Energy Inc., Service Transport and Adams Resources Exploration Corp.
