Takai Joins DHR International as Partner

TOKYO– Global executive search firm DHR International is pleased to announce that Ken Takai has joined the firm as Partner in the Consumer & Retail practice groups.
Takai joined DHR International from his own consultancy firm, icareer partners, which provided job hunting services for candidates, market entry consulting for U.S. headquartered clients, and seminars for Human Resources Directors.
Takai worked with Hays Specialist Recruitment Japan for three years prior to launching icareer partners. As Business Director, Tokyo and later Business Director, Corporate Accounts, Takai managed six teams with 30 consultants and revenues close to US $5 million. He also developed Hays’ first key account management function in Asia Pacific to increase turnover with the firm’s major accounts. Takai began his recruitment career with Michael Page where he last served as Manager, Executive Search and T2Tokyo where he launched the company’s domestic Sales & Marketing practice.
As a business professional, Takai served as Executive Vice President and Representative Director of Nuton Clean Tech, a tech start-up aimed to develop Vertical Axis Wind Turbine systems, General Manager of Yukiguni Maitake, a leading and publicly-traded mushroom producer in Japan, and AEON, a leading retail conglomerate listed on the first of board of the Tokyo Stock exchange. Takai spent more than 14 years with Aeon during which he worked in Malaysia, China, and Japan. In his last capacity as Senior Manager, Takai was CFO equivalent for AEON’s South China operations responsible for Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Supply Chain.
Takai holds a LLB from Yamagata University and a MBA from IUJ Business School at the International University of Japan. A native Japanese speaker, Takai also has full professional proficiency in English and is active in numerous professional associations, such as Japan Career Development Association and Japan Leadership Association.
