DHR INTERNATIONAL PLACES GENERAL COUNSEL AT GOBI PARTNERS, INC.

– Global executive search firm DHR International is pleased to announce the placement of Mark Kuo as General Counsel at Gobi Partners, Inc., an early stage venture capital firm focusing on IT and digital media investments in China. The search was led by Eric Dieny, Executive Vice President and Advanced Technology Practice Leader for Asia Pacific. Commenting on the placement, DHR International’s Eric Dieny said, “Mark has a rare combination of experience, including not only legal advisory services on M&A and financing for technology companies in North America and Asia, but also business development for a leading global technology company, and financial strategic advisory services. We are therefore delighted to have been able to secure Mark as General Counsel for Gobi Partners.” Mr. Kuo has overall responsibility for all legal work related to the venture fund management and investment activities of Gobi Partners, Inc. He will advise the firm on deal structures, investments and drive transactions. Mark will also provide legal advice and business development strategy advice to portfolio companies invested by the firm's venture funds. Thomas G. DHR did an excellent job finding and securing Mark for us.” Most recently, Mr. Kuo was employed at DLA Piper LLC in Silicon Valley where he represented clients in M&A, restructuring, equity & debt financing and IPOs. He also advised both investors and companies on capital market matters, corporate formations, and public company disclosure requirements. Previously, he worked with Microsoft in Redmond as an executive in the online services division and in the unit responsible for optimizing the worldwide licensing and pricing model for Microsoft. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kuo also provided strategic and financial advisory services on M&A, restructuring, and corporate finance in industries such as media, telecom, technology, consumer goods and industrial products. At that time, he was with Citigroup’s Salomon Smith Barney in Hong Kong. He has also worked with law firms in New York and China. Mr. Kuo is a member of the New York Bar. He received his Juris Doctor degree from University of Michigan Law School and also studied at Princeton, Harvard and Fudan University.
