Arthur Yoshinami serves as executive vice president in the firm’s Tokyo office. With more than 12 years of executive search consulting experience, he has a long track record of placing executives in senior management positions for multinational/global corporations operating in Japan and Asia, as well as for major Japanese corporations. He worked with Fortune 500 corporations and start-up companies and has placed executives in both Japan and regional Asia Pacific roles. His experience spans consumer products, consumer financial services, retail and apparel, hospitality and travel, media and entertainment, industrial and telecommunication industries.
Prior to joining DHR International, Mr. Yoshinami was a member of the consumer practice for another leading global executive search firm, specializing in the consumer product and financial services space. Mr. Yoshinami conducted C-level searches in Japan for business division head, representative director and president, finance director, senior vice president R&D and chief marketing officer. He also initiated the Human Resource Practice with a colleague focusing on recruiting senior level executives for global companies. Previously, Mr. Yoshinami also worked for LEGO Group, the global Danish toy brand, as senior vice president, Asia Pacific, where he oversaw sales, marketing and operations of the region and directly managed Japan.
Prior to his appointment to the global toy brand, he was a managing director at another US global executive search firm Tokyo Office heading the Consumer Goods Practice. He focused on consumer service, consumer financial services, travel/hospitality industries, e-commerce and consumer product space, helping both global and large domestic clients with their leadership needs. Mr. Yoshinami executed search assignments in fast moving consumer goods, for sales/marketing, finance and senior management leaders; hospitality, for general managers, human resource and finance; financial services, for customer service, sales and marketing and credit/risk management; e-commerce, for general management and incubator related assignments. Through his assignments, he identified candidates not only in Japan but from overseas and worked with both Japanese and foreign candidates. Mr. Yoshinami was also member of the Strategic Management Assessment team. Working with two other colleagues, they helped firms on succession planning, career development and training of their executives.
Mr. Yoshinami first began his career at American Express International’s Card Services in New York and was subsequently seconded to Tokyo for the launch of the Yen denominated Gold Card in 1981. Mr. Yoshinami worked in marketing, operation, new benefit development, consumer financial services and sales.
Born in the United States and raised in Japan, Mr. Yoshinami is fluent in English and Japanese. Arthur holds a Master's in International and Public Affairs from Columbia University in New York, and earned his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University.
