DHR's Nonprofit Practice provides executive search and high level strategic consulting
to a distinguished group of nonprofit clients. Our mission is "to improve the effectiveness
of nonprofit organizations world-wide," which represents our consultative approach and
our commitment to establish mutually beneficial and long-term relationships with each of
our clients.
Consultants in the Nonprofit Practice have extensive experience providing executive
search to a variety of nonprofit organizations. Our clients range from museums to
performing arts organizations & centers, international development and social service
organizations, zoos and aquariums, gardens and arboreta, economic development,
foundations, and educational organizations.
Nonprofit Practice Consultants
The Nonprofit Practice is led by James Abruzzo, Managing Director.
James has been assisting nonprofits with the executive search process for over 25 years
and is a recognized expert in nonprofit compensation and “intermediate sanctions” regulations.
In addition to nonprofit President/CEO searches, James has placed senior executive leaders in every
functional area, including development, marketing, finance, operations and administration,
programming, IT, HR and education.
The Nonprofit executive search and consulting team consists of industry specialists, many of whom
have spent their entire careers working with nonprofits and assisting nonprofits with executive
search. All team members have direct professional experience in the management and governance of
cultural institutions, social service, economic development, universities and other educational
organizations, and civic entities.
